Arcadian Museum of Art and History

ΤHE EXHIBITS OF THE MUSEUM

The museum hosts the Collection of George I. Christodoulopoulos, which includes above of 500 drawings and engravings of European and Greek artists, dated by the 16th century, small sculptures, historical photographs, coins, bank notes, art publications and other collection objects.

SLIDE SHOW

Arcadia, through the projection slide show of 120 great pieces, from the art galleries of all over the world, gives the occasion of a tour in the European painting, from Renaissance to Impressionism.

THE LIBRARY

In the museum there is also available a library of art, history, literature and social sciences, with more than 1.000 books. Many of them are rare books from 18^th, 19^th and 20^th centuries.

THE EXHIBITION AREAS

The exhibition areas of the Museum, in the complex’s central building , are extended in five mainly rooms under the total area of 640 s.q. The exhibits are divided in this area, accompanied with historical and technical criticism information.

The Museum also includes the projection and multiple uses room “ALKINOE” of the Arcadian Museum of Art and History, (140 s.q.). “ALKINOE” is the redevelopment an old free-standing stone building, with distinctive architectural features. It stands on the south-western edge of Dryades complex, set in a quarter acre of suitably landscaped.

PERIODICAL EXHIBITIONS

The museum hosts painting and sculptures Collections of new artists from Greece every year. The insperation of thematography based on Arcadia. 

The construction of the Museum was included in the Community Program of Financing LEADER+, in the frames of the 3rd Community Frame of Support. The integration became in the Local Program of Northerner Peloponnesus LEADER+, which manages the Developmental Anonymous Company of Northerner Peloponnesus (AN.VO.PE.)
